The dates for micfringe are March 29 - April 23, 2017
Registrations are now open. Click here to complete the online form.
The micfringe is defined by the demarcation between Melbourne International Comedy Festival managed venues, that are curated by the MICF, and the many independent venues that are part of the wider festival. Shows in MICF managed venues are given prominence by appearing on the blackboard outside the Melbourne Town Hall.
The micfringe aims to provide a separate platform for independent venues and performers to create awareness of their work, and give the public a greater understanding of the wider festival away from the confines of the blackboard.
What the micfringe will do:
- Print and distrubute an micfringe guide listing shows registered with the micfringe
- Host a website listing shows registered with the micfringe
- Make available a free smartphone application with GPS functionality listing shows registered with the micfringe
- Develop an affordable ticket booking system for registered shows that will allow the public to book tickets for multiple micfringe shows
A show achieves "micfringe eligible" status if it is NOT being performed in a Melbourne International Comedy Festival managed venue.
An "micfringe eligible" show maybe registered concurrently with the wider MICF and the micfringe, but this is not compulsory.
